What's On ("the app") is a watchlist and release-tracking app for movies and TV shows. This page explains what information the app collects, how it's used, and what it is not used for.
What we collect
- An anonymous account ID. The app signs you in anonymously (via Firebase Authentication) the first time you open it. This creates a random ID tied to your device/browser — we don't ask for or collect your name, email address, or phone number to use the app.
- Your watchlist and preferences. The shows and movies you save, mark watched, or reject; which streaming platforms you've hidden; and, if you use the Savings feature, which services/bundles you've configured and their prices — all stored against your anonymous account ID so it's there the next time you open the app.
- Push notification subscription (optional). If you enable notifications, your browser's push subscription details are stored so we can send you a reminder when new picks pile up. You can disable this at any time through your browser or device notification settings.
- Last-opened timestamp. Used only to decide whether to send you a reminder notification (we don't send one if you've already opened the app that day).
What we don't do
- No third-party advertising or analytics trackers are embedded in the app.
- We don't sell or share your data with third parties for marketing purposes.
- We don't collect payment information — the Savings feature only stores prices you type in yourself, as a personal reference; it never charges you or contacts any streaming service on your behalf.
Where data is stored
Data is stored using Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore, Google Cloud services. Access is restricted so that only your own anonymous account can read or write your data — enforced by Firestore security rules on the server.
Content data source
Show and movie release information is provided by The Movie Database (TMDB). This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB.
Data retention and deletion
Since your account is anonymous and tied to your device/browser, clearing your browser's site data (or uninstalling the app) effectively ends that session. To request deletion of data associated with a specific anonymous account ID, contact us using the details below.
Children's privacy
This app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
